Chelsea have signed reported Arsenal target Christian Pulisic for 64m euros (£58m) from Borussia Dortmund forward.

The Blues will loan Pulisic back to the German club until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old United States international, who was linked with Liverpool and Arsenal, joined Dortmund as a youth player in 2015.

Pulisic is in good form for his country, having netted nine goals in 23 games for the US.

“It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players,” he said in a statement.

The forward had been tipped to an Arsenal move this winter, however the player could have already been in an Arsenal shirt had the Gunners not been blocked by European bureaucracy.

According to Jack Pitt-Brooke, football reporter at the Independent, Pulisic had a trial at Arsenal.

He tweeted: “Christian Pulisic finally arrives in English football.

“He actually had a trial at Arsenal when he was 14 but that was before he had a Croatian passport (and before Croatia was in the EU) so Arsenal couldn’t legally sign him.”
