As if one key defensive injury wasn’t enough tonight, Arsenal also lost captain Laurent Koscielny prematurely tonight after the Frenchman caught the wrong end of Romelu Lukaku’s boot in his face and departed with a nasty looking jaw injury.
The clash was purely accidental, it should be pointed out, but it was a clash that left the Gunners captain prone on the turf for eight minutes, clutching his jaw, which appeared to need clicking back into place at one point.

In the first half Unai Emery had to deal with the early loss of Sokratis, who landed awkwardly when contesting a header and of course is still reeling from the nine month loss of Hector Bellerin, who tore a quad tendon against Chelsea last Saturday.

Let’s hope it’s nothing too serious for the skipper, who was imperious against Chelsea last weekend. With the battle for a top four place very much on and Europa League fixtures kicking back in next month, Unai Emery needs as many options as possible at his disposal as we approach the business end of the season.
