Last night’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United didn’t just end Arsenal’s FA Cup run for another season, but also saw Unai Emery’s defensive crisis deepen even further.
Not only did Sokratis depart the game early with an ankle injury in the first half, but Laurent Koscielny’s game also ended prematurely when the captain was subbed off with a nasty looking head injury.
“I think they weren’t big injuries for Sokratis [his ankle]. Maybe Laurent Koscielny is going to hospital to [analyse] what injury he has. Maybe he’s broken [his cheek or jaw] but I hope not.”

And the reports coming out of the club relating to the skipper’s injury are not positive at all.
It is suspected that the Frenchman has suffered a broken jaw, following an accidental collision with Romelu Lukaku’s boot in the second half.

Such an injury would be a major setback for Koscielny, who only returned from an achilles injury last month. It would also leave the Gunners incredibly stretched in defence, with Hector Bellerin already out for the next nine months following his quad tendon tear against Chelsea.
Get well soon, Kosc.
