In news that is probably not going to come as much of a surprise to anyone, Unai Emery is set to transfer list Shkodran Mustafi at the end of the season.
The German centre half has struggled to convince anyone at the Emirates since he arrived from Valencia in 2016 in a deal worth almost £40 million.
Mustafi, a World Cup winner, has been chastised by the majority of Arsenal fans for a series of mistake laden displays over the last three years and was again at fault during Arsenal’s calamitous performance against Manchester City at the weekend.
Given how stretched Unai Emery’s defence is, Arsenal can ill afford their available defenders to be so unreliable, which is unfortunately what Mustafi has regularly been.
Of course, the former Valencia man is far from alone when it comes to poor performances over the last few seasons, but it appears he is to be the defender who is sacrificed this summer, with Emery reportedly ready to end his time at the Emirates Stadium, according to the Telegraph.
Internazionale made two failed bids for the 26-year-old in the summer of 2017, which were turned down due to the Gunners being unable to find a suitable replacement in time.
Also, with Emery only having a transfer kitty of £40 million to play with this summer, according to reports, money will need to be raised from player sales to fund any more permanent moves, meaning Mustafi will likely not be the only high profile departure from the Emirates this summer.
