Mesut Ozil To Be ‘Forced Out’ Of Arsenal By End Of Season

If you’re a fan of Mesut Ozil’s, you should probably brace yourself for the possibility of seeing the German playmaker on the bench for the remainder of his Arsenal career.

Arsenal’s one time record signing and current top earner has fallen out of favour at the Emirates Stadium since Unai Emery took over from Arsene Wenger last summer and it is widely expected that this season will be his last in North London.

The World Cup winner was rumoured to be on his way out of the club during last month’s transfer window, but ended up remaining put, despite his differences with Emery. It is believed Ozil doesn’t want to leave Arsenal and his £350,000-per-week salary is also one which puts off a lot of potential buyers.

Now, however, it is being reported that Emery has devised a tactic to force the former Real Madrid man out of the Emirates.

Simply put, Emery intends to keep Ozil benched or not in his match day squads altogether in order to force the playmaker’s hand into issuing a transfer request.

BBC journalist and Arsenal fan favourite David Ornstein has reported that Arsenal are desperate to rid themselves of Ozil’s record breaking wages in order to free up funds for new recruits in the summer.

The treatment of Ozil has angered many Arsenal fans, especially in recent games against West Ham and Manchester United, where his creative spark could have provided the Gunners with an extra edge in games where they’ve looked limp going forward.

It was rumoured in January that the World Cup winner was offered to AC Milan, only for former Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis to block the deal due to his policy of not wanting the Rossoneri to sign any players over the age of 25.

What do you make of Emery’s proposed treatment of Ozil? Should the German playmaker be moved on or should he be starting regularly for the Gunners?
