Last night, Dorset Police confirmed the tragic news that the body they removed from the wreckage of a plane in the English Channel was that of Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala, who had gone missing when travelling from France on a private plane two weeks ago.
The Argentine striker was flying to Wales to begin life as Cardiff’s new £18 million forward, having agreed to leave Ligue 1 outfit Nantes to try his luck in the Premier League.
Tragically, the 28-year-old never made it over the English Channel, after the plane he and pilot David Ibbot went missing on 22nd January.
With the confirmation of Sala’s death breaking last night, the footballing world united to mourn the former Nantes striker.
