In rather surprising transfer news, Arsenal are being linked with a move for an almost forgotten ex-Liverpool player.
The Gunners transfer strategy has taken a battering from all quarters in recent weeks, especially after the January window debacle when Unai Emery admitted that the club could not afford to make any permanent signings and would instead have to pursue loan deals.
Eventually, Denis Suarez was brought in from Barcelona on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a £20 million permanent deal. However, the lack of further investment in the first team squad, which is in such desperate need of strengthening, drew criticism from many quarters, with several first teamers reportedly becoming disillusioned with the board’s inactivity.
Now, it is being reported that Emery will only be given £45 million to spend this summer and one of the first targets to be linked with a summer move to the Emirates stadium is one that will likely raise a few eyebrows among Gunners supporters.

Former Liverpool midfielder Suso, who left the Reds for AC Milan in 2015 after failing to lock down a first team place at Anfield, is now apparently being looked at for a summer move to North London, with Arsenal and Spurs registering an interest in the Spaniard’s services.
Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Suso, who has been one of Milan’s most consistent performers, is on Emery’s radar and has a minimum fee release clause of £35 million in his contract, which, if triggered would eat up the majority of Arsenal’s reported summer budget.
Suso is currently locked in transfer talks with Milan but has reached a stalemate with the Serie A giants, with Atletico Madrid also waiting in the wings should the Spanish attacker fail to reach an agreement with the Rossoneri.
