Unai Emery’s feud with Mesut Ozil appears to have encompassed several members of the Arsenal squad after the German playmaker shared a post on social media this week.
Ozil has been left on the sidelines by Emery for much of this season as the manager does his best to force the former Real Madrid man out of the club.
However, the World Cup winner is refusing to allow himself to be shown the door at the Emirates, with no apparent desire to leave the club.
Despite being fit and ready for several games recently, Ozil has not been selected by Emery and is currently being paid £350,000-a-week to not play for the club, infuriating many fans.
This week, Ozil took to social media to share a quote from Dennis Bergkamp, seemingly not so subtly hinting towards Emery that he has no intention of losing their battle of wills.
The quote read “When you start supporting a football club, you don’t support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong.”
And several first team players were quick to show their support for Ozil by liking the post.
Alexandre Lacazette, Alex Iwobi, Sead Kolasinac and Granit Xhaka all liked the post on Instagram which, while not exactly a dig at Emery, at least suggests that Ozil is well liked by his teammates and they want him to remain in North London.
With several high profile members of the first team backing Ozil, Emery could soon discover that he has a mutiny on his hands if his treatment of the German continues.
