With the recent success of English clubs in the Champions League it’s increased the chances of Arsenal missing out on the top European competition even if they finish fourth.
Manchester United managed to defy the odds in Paris and progress through to the quarter final with Spurs who secured a comfortable 4-0 on aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund.
Next week Manchester City are in action and are expected to cruise through to the next round along with Liverpool who have a tricky trip to Munich.
So how could Arsenal not qualify for the Champions League if they finish fourth?
Well if Spurs or Manchester United go on to win the Champions League and finish outside of the top four. Along with Chelsea winning the Europa League and Arsenal finishing fourth it would mean Arsenal would miss out.
1.Man City (Qualify CL)
2. Liverpool (Qualify CL)
3. Manchester United (Qualify CL)
5. Spurs (Win the CL) (Automatic Qualification to CL)
6. Chelsea (Win the EL) (Automatic Qualification to CL)
The same would apply if Manchester United finished fifth and won the Champions League and Spurs finished third.
Lets hope we can turn around the 3-1 defeat to Rennes in the second leg!
