Thank you Jesse Lingard. There’s a sentence we never thought we’d utter on this page.
But it seems that the Manchester United forward was indeed partly responsible for yesterday’s 2-0 victory over the Red Devils, despite the England international not even stepping foot on the pitch.
Lingard was instrumental in United’s 3-1 Premier League victory at the Emirates last season and in their win by the same scoreline in this season’s FA Cup fourth round game. Both time, the 26-year-old danced across the Emirates pitch to celebrate, dubbing the turf as his ‘dance floor’ on social media.
Big mistake, Jesse.
First of all, Mesut Ozil took to social media to troll Lingard as the Gunners celebrated their 2-0 triumph:

And then Bernd Leno revealed how Lingard’s mockery of Arsenal on social media and with his previous celebrations helped inspire the Gunners to victory, yesterday.
“In your mind you will never forget something like that, when somebody is celebrating.
“You don’t want to see it again, so we were motivated.
“And we knew before the game about our chance, because Man United had one point more than us [in the race for fourth].
“Now we have two points and that was enough motivation for us. We are in the top four and the other teams now wait for our mistakes.”
Let’s hope Lingard’s dancing motivates the Gunners for the remaining eight games so he’s dancing in the Europa League next season instead of the Champions League.
