Perhaps it was always foolish for us to get our hopes up about signing a player who was wanted by half of Europe…
It turns out Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, who has been linked with a move to the Gunners for a number of months, has instructed agent Mino Raiola that he is only interested in leaving the Dutch giants for one club.
Apparently de Ligt has told Mino Raiola that money isn’t as important as playing for Barça.

And, sadly, it isn’t Arsenal.
Instead, like a number of his Dutch compatriots before him, the 19-year-old wants to secure a move to Barcelona this summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Netherlands international, who has won 13 caps for his country, informed Raiola that he only wants a move to the Camp Nou and to forget even discussing terms with any other club.
PSG and Liverpool were also believed to be interested in signing the teenager, but de Ligt only has eyes for Catalonia.
His Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong has already agreed terms with Barca over a summer transfer and was an integral part in the dramatic elimination of Real Madrid in this season’s Champions League, with the Amsterdam club downing the European champions 4-1 at the Bernabeu earlier this month.
