Robert Pires Has Paid Mesut Ozil The Highest Praise Possible

There isn’t much that Mesut Ozil hasn’t accomplished in his career, with the German playmaker enjoying domestic success in three different success as well as lifting the European U21 Championships and the World Cup at international level.

But even so, Arsenal’s number 10 may have never received a compliment as flattering as the one recently bestowed upon him by Robert Pires.

The Frenchman is a long time fan of the former Real Madrid man and, during a recent interview, favourably compared Ozil to one of the greatest Gunners of all time, Dennis Bergkamp.

Speaking about Ozil’s litany of talents during the interview, Pires said,“He’s very clever and makes good assists. For me he’s like Dennis Bergkamp, he’s a magician, a maestro. Of course he’s not a warrior, like Dennis… or like me, but in the team, you need everything. And when you have Mesut, he’s important.”

It doesn’t really get much better than that, does it?

Despite Pires’ glowing review of Ozil’s abilities, the World Cup winner is still one of the favourites to depart the Emirates at the end of the season, with Unai Emery keen to significantly trim the Gunners’ bulging wage bill in order to bring in new recruits over the summer.
