Morgan Rogers remains one of Arsenal’s leading attacking targets this summer, but Aston Villa are showing little intention of sanctioning the departure of one of their most valuable assets, according to The Athletic.
The England international is currently focused on the FIFA World Cup in North America, where he made a substitute appearance in England’s dramatic victory over Mexico. Away from international duty, however, speculation over his club future continues to gather momentum.
Arsenal continue to monitor situation
According to Sebastian Stafford-Bloor and Jacob Tanswell of The Athletic, it was reported in early June that Rogers had attracted interest from virtually every major club in England, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City, while Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich were also monitoring the Aston Villa forward.
Since then, the landscape has shifted.
Bayern Munich have strengthened their attacking options by signing Ismael Saibari, effectively ending the prospect of a move for Rogers this summer. Likewise, Paris Saint-Germain have yet to formalise their interest, with the European champions instead prioritising a move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
That leaves Arsenal among the clubs most strongly linked with the 23-year-old.
According to The Athletic’s James McNicholas, Rogers remains Mikel Arteta’s preferred attacking target, although Arsenal are simultaneously assessing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as an alternative option to strengthen the left side of their attack.
Despite their long-standing admiration, Arsenal have not yet submitted a formal bid.
Villa determined to keep Rogers
Aston Villa’s position has remained consistent throughout the summer.
The Midlands club have no desire to lose one of their standout performers following another outstanding campaign, with Rogers playing a central role in Villa’s qualification for next season’s Champions League.
The Athletic reports that Villa would demand a fee exceeding the British-record £116 million paid by Manchester City for Elliot Anderson before even considering a sale.
Any final decision over Rogers’ future is expected to rest with Villa co-owner Nassef Sawiris, underlining the club’s determination to retain one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents.
Champions League football a key factor
For Rogers himself, Champions League football remains a major priority.
Having secured qualification with Villa, the England international is already competing at the level he has targeted, reducing any immediate pressure to seek a move elsewhere.
Tottenham Hotspur have previously expressed interest in the forward and have invested heavily during the current transfer window, but The Athletic reports there has been no move from the north London club.

With Villa standing firm, rival clubs pursuing alternative targets and Rogers fully focused on England’s World Cup campaign, the situation remains unchanged for now.
