Arsenal make Erling Haaland contact as £500k-a-week reality becomes clear

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Erling Haaland’s representatives, but the financial reality makes a move for the Manchester City striker difficult to envisage at this stage.

The summer transfer window may have only recently closed, but Arsenal are already being linked with potential additions ahead of future windows.

The Gunners signed Ezri Konsa, Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes and Illan Meslier during the summer, while they also explored the possibility of bringing in another forward before the deadline.

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr and Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez were among the attacking players linked with Arsenal, although neither ultimately left their respective clubs.

Attention has now turned towards possible future targets, with the January transfer window approaching.

Arsenal reportedly contact Haaland camp

According to Football Insider, as relayed by Football.London, Arsenal and Real Madrid have made contact with Erling Haaland’s representatives following reports that Manchester City had been found guilty of alleged financial breaches relating to the Premier League’s charges against the club.

The report claims Arsenal are looking to assess whether uncertainty surrounding some members of City’s squad could create opportunities in the transfer market.

Haaland, however, represents a very different proposition.

Arsenal have made clear their desire to strengthen their forward options, but the financial package for the Norway international would present a significant obstacle. His reported wages of around £500,000 per week would make any potential deal extremely difficult.

While the reported contact has generated speculation, the information currently available does not suggest that a transfer to Emirates Stadium is close to becoming a realistic possibility.

Schade also on Arsenal radar

Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring Kevin Schade following his impressive start to the season with Brentford.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal and Liverpool are among the Premier League clubs to have expressed an interest in the Germany international. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the versatile forward.

Brentford are understood to have already explored the possibility of offering Schade a new contract amid the reported interest.

The report adds that Arsenal and Liverpool have been the clubs considered the most “keen” to explore a potential deal.

Schade therefore represents a more conventional transfer-market possibility for Arsenal, with the club continuing to assess attacking options despite the summer window having only recently closed.

For now, the Haaland story remains firmly in the realm of reported contact while Schade appears to be another forward whose situation is being monitored.
