Fabrizio Romano has revealed Arsenal are making “very good progress” on a certain aspect of the Morgan Rogers deal, but Aston Villa’s asking price remains high.
Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are looking to strengthen their Premier League-winning team even more this summer, in preparation for their title defence and push for other trophies next season.
Arteta and his team ended the 22-year wait for a Premier League title, but their Champions League dream still awaits after falling short on penalties to back-to-back winners PSG. However, reaching the Champions League final boosted the club’s summer transfer budget.
Arsenal are looking for a new addition to their attack, with rumours that either Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli could be moved on this summer, allowing Arteta to strengthen the left wing.
Arsenal target Morgan Rogers
Despite some interest being shown towards PSG’s Bradley Barcola, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has been named as Arsenal’s top option to add to their attack this summer. Fabrizio Romano insists Arsenal “hope to find a way to negotiate” after discovering the Englishman has a hefty £130 million price tag.
Revealed on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel: “Arsenal also have an interest in Bradley Barcola, but their number-one option would be Morgan Rogers.” The Birmingham-based side will only be willing to let Morgan Rogers go for the £130 million fee they have labelled him at.
Aston Villa are well aware of Arsenal’s interest towards Morgan Rogers, but they are also aware that there is interest from elsewhere, with clubs such as Chelsea monitoring the situation of the versatile winger and midfielder who is currently out in the States with England’s World Cup squad.
Arsenal have apparently made very good progress on the players’ side of the deal for some time, with the price tag that has been set by Villa, the Gunners will be hoping to negotiate and try to bring the price tag down by including potential add-ons to the structure of the deal.
Arsenal also call about Alex Scott
Arsenal are looking to bring in a central midfielder this summer, with news coming out that the club had a bid rejected by Newcastle United for Bruno Guimaraes last week.
Fabrizio Romano revealed this week that Arsenal made a “call” to Bournemouth about Alex Scott, the call identified that the young midfielder will “be difficult to get”.

Bournemouth are reluctant to sell Alex Scott this summer after losing many key players within the last 12 months, including Antoine Semenyo in January to Arsenal’s Premier League title rivals Manchester City.
It’s unclear if Arsenal will push for Scott this window or if the Gunners will assess other options available elsewhere. It is clear that the Premier League champions will be looking to add to their midfield and attack this summer.
