Chelsea join the race to sign £60 million Arsenal target

Chelsea have entered the race to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott shortly after the Cherries reportedly lowered their asking price for the England youngster, who is also targeted by Arsenal.

Bournemouth were initially believed to value Scott at around £80 million, but recent reports suggest they would now consider offers in the region of £60 million. The reduced valuation has alerted several top Premier League clubs, with Arsenal remaining firmly interested despite growing competition.

Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his midfield ahead of next season, but the Gunners are well aware that landing one of England’s brightest young talents will not be straightforward.

Arsenal face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea

Arsenal are no longer alone in the race for Scott, as stated in a report by METRO.

Manchester United are also monitoring the Bournemouth star, especially following Manuel Ugarte’s recent injury. The Red Devils are expected to reinforce their midfield and believe Scott has the technical qualities and energy to fit into Michael Carrick’s plans.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have now joined the pursuit amid continued uncertainty surrounding Enzo Fernández’s future. The Blues are exploring midfield options, with Scott emerging as one of the names under consideration.

Arsenal’s interest is driven by the player’s versatility. Scott is capable of playing as a holding midfielder, a box to box midfielder and in a more advanced role. His ability to operate effectively in both the number six and number eight positions makes him an ideal fit for Arteta’s system.

Scott’s performances last season were among the main reasons Bournemouth enjoyed another impressive Premier League campaign.

The 22 year old consistently impressed with his composure on the ball, progressive passing and ability to dictate the tempo of games. His displays have attracted interest from several of England’s biggest clubs and have also earned praise from former professionals.

Former England striker Darren Bent recently urged Arsenal to move for Scott, arguing that he represents far better value for money than Elliot Anderson, who completed a £120 million move to Manchester City.

Although Scott narrowly missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad, many believe it is only a matter of time before he becomes a regular at international level.

With Bournemouth now lowering their valuation, the race for one of the Premier League’s brightest young midfielders could soon gather pace. Arsenal remain keen, but they will have to fend off serious competition from both Chelsea and Manchester United if they hope to complete the signing.
