Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Bruno Guimaraes after he missed Arsenal’s first game of the Premier League against Coventry.
Arsenal have started their journey to retain the Premier League title with a convincing win over Frank Lampard’s Coventry.
The Gunners opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Kai Havertz excellently finished after Riccardo Calafiori’s pass. Bukayo Saka doubled lead after pouncing on Christos Tzolis’ pass across the box.
Only a few minutes after the second half began, Martin Odegaard scored Arsenal’s third after linking up with the overlapping Ben White.
One of Arsenal’s standout performers was Christos Tzolis, who continues to impress with how exciting and direct he is. Speaking after the game Mikel Arteta provided an update on Guimaraes’ fitness…
Arteta provides an update on Guimaraes
Bruno Guimaraes picked up the injury against Manchester City and came off at half-time during the Community Shield.
Speaking after the Coventry game and relayed by ArsenalNews, Arteta said: “We expect him not to be out for weeks. Let’s see how he evolves this week – he wanted to carry on, and that’s when you start to understand the character of the player, but I don’t think that’s a big issue.”
In the pre-match conference, Arteta did not seem overly concerned about Guimaraes’ situation. Arteta will be hopeful that the Brazilian will be available for Arsenal’s clash against Aston Villa.
Arsenal could still be looking for another signing
With the summer transfer window ending in just over a week, Arsenal might be able to bring in an attacker that fans are so desperate for.
Arsenal have already had a busy window with the signings of Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes and now Ezri Konsa, who was welcomed at the Emirates Stadium.

The fact that both Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have been left out of the squad two games in a row could suggest that they will be sold this summer, leaving space for a final summer signing.
The issue for Arsenal is that only a few players seem available. Vinicius Jr has signed a new contract at Real Madrid; Julian Alvarez seems to be not for sale, and Bradley Barcola looks to be joining Liverpool.
For Arsenal to reach a new level, the Gunners must try to sign an attacker that raises the team’s standard and could help them win the Champions League.
