Former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry has revealed details from a private conversation with star winger Bukayo Saka, praising the youngster’s mentality and commitment to the club.
The Gunners have booked their place in a Champions League final for the first time in 20 years. Arsenal will advance to face PSG in Budapest on May 30, with hopes of securing what would be the club’s first major European trophy.
However, before attention can fully turn to Europe, a crucial run-in awaits in the Premier League. Fixtures against West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace stand between Arsenal and their first league title since 2003/04.
A potential domestic and European double would cap off seven years of progress under Mikel Arteta. With so much still to play for, the coming weeks could see Arsenal shape one of the club’s most memorable seasons.
Despite this achievement on the horizon, all credit must be awarded to the players. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that one star player has been pivotal in pushing the Gunners forward. And despite facing injuries this season, feels as though one particular player should be awarded credit.
Henry Praises Saka
The former Arsenal striker reflected on Bukayo Saka and the challenges he has faced this season. Despite being a victim of criticism and ongoing fitness struggles, Henry has nothing but praise for the Hale End academy graduate on CBS Sports.
“‘He’s been questioned all season. Can he be the guy? Is he not the guy? Is he the star boy? Is he not the star boy? Is he better than him or not better than him? Today he had to play with barely training. I know he’s suffering with his Achilles tendon.
“He came back, I spoke to him and he came back and was like: ‘I’ve got to be on the pitch. I’ve got to be on the pitch against Fulham. I have to be. It’s do or die’.
“So you have to give those guys a lot of credit. Sometimes we take it for granted. We all played through injuries. We all played with moments where you’re not 100 per cent and he had to do it, deliver it for Arsenal.”
Saka determined to make his mark
As Arsenal prepare for the defining stretch of their season, Saka appears more than ready to step up once again.
The academy graduate impressed against Fulham, registering both a goal and an assist to help Arsenal strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, Champions League football once again delivered for the North London side. Saka proved decisive, scoring the goal that sent Arsenal through to the final with a clinical poacher’s finish in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

Despite the criticism he has faced at times this season, Saka’s determination and resilience have continued to shine through.
Although Achilles problems have disrupted parts of his campaign, Arsenal will undoubtedly rely heavily on the winger, during what could become a historic month for the club.
