Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Inter Milan pursued an interest in Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The interest was as recent as this past summer but Arteta and Edu were adamant that Tomiyasu was not for sale. Fabrizio Romano said, “Takehiro Tomiyasu is another player earning praise for his recent performances and although I don’t currently have any information on the possibility of a new contract soon, Arsenal are very happy with his performances.”
“I can also reveal that Inter Milan wanted Tomiyasu in July but Arsenal said no; Mikel Arteta and Edu wanted to keep him and it was clearly a successful decision, he’s really appreciated at the club and is really showing his value and versatility at the moment.”
The Japanese international has become a key part of the squad this season. He had a great recovery from last season as he was sidelined for almost 9 months with a knee injury.
Tomiyasu has played in CB, RB, and LB for the Gunners in recent matches. Inter Milan ended up signing French international Benjamin Pavard after a failed approach for Tomiyasu.
