In the last few days, rumours of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz being linked with Arsenal have come to light. This comes after Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal were monitoring the Brazilian.
Arsenal attempted to sign the Brazilian back in January on transfer deadline day. The Gunners submitted three offers which were all rejected. The highest bid was their final offer of £25 million.
Romano said: “As I recently reported, Arsenal have been monitoring Pedro Neto for some time, and I can also say that Arsenal always keep monitoring the same players they like and Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz remains one of them. He’s always been appreciated.”
The journalist followed up by saying, “We know that Arsenal had bids rejected for Luiz in September 2022, and he later went on to sign a new contract at Villa Park, which runs until 2026. He’s now a key player for Villa so the deal would not be an easy one, but many clubs appreciate him.”
Fabrizio Romano also dismissed reports that Arsenal are interested in Borussia Dortmund youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. As he told the media, “This talented 19-year-old looks like he has a bright future in the game, so it’s perhaps inevitable that we’ll see some speculation about him coming back to the Premier League at some point. He signed a new deal just ten days ago at Dortmund because he wanted to stay and Dortmund saw him as an important player for a long-term project, so there’s nothing at all for January, for sure.”
