Newcastle United have the opportunity to sign Ethan Nwaneri on loan from Arsenal before the end of the summer transfer window.
After his breakthrough season during the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, Ethan Nwaneri has struggled to find his spot within the Arsenal squad.
Last season Nwaneri was sent to Marseille on a loan deal for half a season but with the sudden departure of Roberto De Zerbi, his move was not as successful as Mikel Arteta had hoped for.
After being left out of the matchday squad against Manchester City in the Community Shield final, Nwaneri is unlikely to be in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the upcoming season.
However, Mikel Arteta would prefer not to lose Nwaneri because of how much potential he has, which therefore means a loan move for the upcoming season would be the best move for everyone involved.

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are prioritising a loan exit for Nwaneri, which would help his development.
Newcastle have previously discussed the possibility of signing the teenager and have been one of the clubs interested. With the signings of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze last season, Nwaneri’s space within the squad was not certain.
It was reported that Mikel Arteta acknowledged Nwaneri as one of multiple players whose future at the club is uncertain and could still change before the end of the summer transfer window but made it very clear that other academy talents like Myles Lewis-Skelly are not for sale.
A club like Newcastle would be the perfect fit for Nwaneri because he would get consistent game time and play regular Premier League football.

After losing some of their best attacking players, Newcastle would be able to give Nwaneri the regular game time he needs to develop his career.
Nwaneri’s technical ability and capability to progress the ball forward is something that Newcastle have lacked since losing Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon this summer.

Nwaneri would play both attacking midfield and off the right, as he did at Arsenal.
This would appeal to Arteta because it is clear that Arsenal do not want to give up on Nwaneri permanently, and a successful season at Newcastle could help with the player’s confidence and development.
