Following a breakout season in the Champions League, Arsenal have begun to monitor Bayer Leverkusen forward, Christian Kofane this summer.
Following Arsenal’s brilliant 2025/26 campaign, rumours surrounding the club’s next summer transfer move are beginning to gather momentum.
Despite the success of Mikel Arteta’s side, the club appears determined to build on its achievements and remain at the top once again.
One position that has come under heavy scrutiny in recent seasons is the Gunners’ forward line, with Viktor Gyökeres failing to deliver on the biggest occasions.
With Arsenal reportedly in the market for both a new striker and a left winger, one name that has been linked is Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane.
Arsenal begin talks with Kofane
Reports from German outlet Bild have suggested that the Cameroon striker is wanting a move to England, with Arsenal beginning talks.
However, Africa Foot claim Everton are now in pole position to secure his signature after submitting a ‘concrete offer’.
The exact fee remains unclear, but with his market value sitting at around £34 million according to Transfermarkt, a deal worth up to £50 million appears likely.
With the Toffees in desperate need of a new striker following Thierno Barry’s disappointing debut season, and regular minutes all but guaranteed, a move to Merseyside looks increasingly likely.
Is Kofane right for Arsenal?
Kofane’s rise has been rapid. After joining Albacete Balompié from Cameroonian side AS Nylon in 2024, he scored 8 goals in 20 appearances during the second half of the 2024/25 season, earning a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
The 19-year-old continued his development in Germany, finishing the 2025/26 campaign with 7 goals and 9 assists in all competitions. He also showcased his potential with several eye-catching displays in the Champions League.

There is little doubt Kofane has the talent to become one of Europe’s top strikers. However, his return of 15 goals in 64 senior appearances underlines that he remains a player with plenty of room to develop.
For Arsenal, that presents a dilemma. While Kofane could thrive under Mikel Arteta and become a key player in the years ahead, signing him would still represent a gamble for a side expected to compete for every major trophy.
If the Gunners do win the race for his signature, they should still look to add a proven, world-class striker. Kofane may be an exciting option for the future, but Arsenal cannot afford to rely solely on potential if they want to remain at the top.
