Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, with Fabrizio Romano confirming a medical and contract signing have been booked – and delivering the tantalising warning that the Gunners are far from finished in this transfer window.
The €40 million deal is described by Romano as having involved almost no negotiation. Club Brugge held firm on their asking price from the outset, and Arsenal made the decision to pay it, a clean, decisive piece of business that brings one of Belgian football’s most prolific wingers to the Emirates Stadium.
Tzolis, 24, was remarkable for Brugge over the past two seasons, scoring 21 goals in 56 games in 2024/25 before following that up with 22 goals in 52 appearances this past campaign. He arrives as a direct replacement for Leandro Trossard, who completed his move to Besiktas earlier this month, and represents the type of creative, high-output wide player Mikel Arteta has been seeking.
The deal could have fallen apart. Two clubs, one from Italy and one from Germany, attempted to hijack the transfer over the past few weeks, sensing that Arsenal were moving too slowly. Tzolis, however, was not tempted by these other moves and was unequivocal in his desire to move to Arsenal.
Romano confirms with ‘Here we go’
“Tzolis is a new Arsenal player,” Romano said. “Agreement done on a 40 million euros deal. This is the transfer fee that Arsenal will pay to Club Brugge. Basically, there was almost no negotiation because the asking price was always €40m.”
He added that the medical test and contract signing have already been booked, with Tzolis set to put pen to paper on a long-term contract in the coming days.
But the most intriguing element of Romano’s update was his closing remarks, a clear signal that Arsenal’s business is far from complete. Romano confirmed the Gunners will be “busy and busy and busy” in the coming weeks, with further signings expected.
What next for Arsenal
Romano flagged that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on William Saliba’s recovery, and so investment into the centre-back position may be on the cards.
Similarly, despite the transfer of Tzolis, Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are still very interested in Morgan Rogers, and he is their number one target. Arteta doesn’t see Tzolis as a starter just yet, and hence the interest in Rogers is still active.

Aston Villa are reportedly asking for £130 million, and so striking a deal will be very tough.
Arsenal fans should be very pleased with the signing of Tzolis, and there is plenty of optimism surrounding future incomings at the Emirates.
