Arsenal’s interest in Juventus star refuses to fade ahead of key recruitment drive

Arsenal’s preparations for the defence of their Premier League crown are already gathering pace behind the scenes, and one transfer story that continues to generate attention is the club’s reported interest in Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz.

With the 2026 World Cup currently dominating the football landscape, transfer activity across Europe has been relatively quiet.

Nevertheless, recruitment departments remain busy, and Arsenal are no exception as Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta prepare for another campaign at the top of English football.

The Gunners will begin their title defence against Coventry City on August 21, by which point significant movement in both arrivals and departures is expected at the Emirates Stadium.

Yildiz links continue despite new Juventus contract

Among the names consistently linked with Arsenal is Turkish international Kenan Yildiz.

The 21-year-old only signed a new contract with Juventus in February, committing his long-term future to the Serie A giants until 2030. The extension was widely viewed as a statement of intent from the Turin club, who regard Yildiz as one of the cornerstones of their future project.

However, speculation surrounding the attacker has shown little sign of disappearing.

According to reports from Italian publication TuttoSport, as relayed by football.london, Arsenal have made enquiries regarding a potential move in recent weeks, maintaining their interest despite Juventus’ efforts to secure the player’s future.

The report claims Yildiz views Arsenal as a “welcome destination” and that this is likely to encourage those within the club monitoring the situation.

While Juventus remain determined to retain one of their most valuable assets, circumstances could yet influence their position.

Failure to secure Champions League qualification has increased pressure on the Italian club’s finances, and Yildiz is widely regarded as the player most capable of generating a significant transfer fee should a major offer arrive.

Despite those concerns, Juventus majority shareholder John Elkann is reported to have rejected Arsenal’s initial interest, signalling the club’s current intention to keep hold of the versatile forward.

Yet the financial realities of modern football mean that stance could be tested if substantial bids arrive later in the summer.

    Why Yildiz appeals to Arsenal

From a tactical perspective, Yildiz’s profile aligns with several qualities that Arsenal have prioritised in their recent recruitment windows.

Comfortable operating across the front line, the Turkish international combines technical quality with direct running and positional flexibility. His ability to play from the left, through central areas or as a supporting attacker would provide Arteta with additional options in an already versatile attacking unit.

Arsenal’s desire to strengthen their forward line has been well documented, particularly as uncertainty continues to surround the futures of several attacking players.

While no formal negotiations are currently underway, continued reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal genuinely admire Yildiz.

Focus remains on World Cup before transfer market intensifies

For now, attention remains firmly on international football, with 15 Arsenal players currently representing their countries at the World Cup in North America.

Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze are among those hoping to make an impact on the global stage before returning to club duties later this summer.

Once the tournament concludes, however, Arsenal are expected to accelerate their transfer business. Whether Kenan Yildiz ultimately becomes part of Arteta’s plans remains uncertain, but the interest shows little sign of fading as the summer window approaches a crucial phase.
